Although it may seem outdated, arranged marriages are still quite popular, and you may be surprised to know how many people find their partner through this method. There are a number of practical reasons for this: arranged marriages are not always bad, as long as they aren’t forced upon you. If you’re considering an arranged marriage, there are a few things you should do or consider first in order to ensure a healthy, happy and peaceful future married life!

Do You Know Your Partner Well Enough?

If you and your partner are co-habitating in the same domicile, same city, spend as much time together as possible. If not, then technology can be your best friend – make use of Skype and mobile phones to keep in touch. As you’re marrying someone you don’t know well, it’s essential that you take the time to get to know them properly. What kind of person are they? Do they have any quirks or imperfections that you can live with? Have open and honest discussions with your partner about everything – even small topics can help give you some insight into their character.

Unrealistic Expectations

Before tying the knot, make sure to communicate your expectations to your significant other. Doing so will prevent any possible tension or resentment down the road. And please, don’t just assume that they know what you’re thinking – make sure that You and the person you’re communicating with are understanding each other clearly.beginning.

In-laws play an important role in keeping your marriage happy. It isn’t always feasible to spend additional time with them before getting married, therefore the individuals are completely unknown each other’s personalities. To make things easier for you after marriage, speak with your in-laws to discover what they want. Learn about each other’s expectations. If you’ve made the decision to marry someone, ask if they are pleased with it. If at all feasible, speak to your mother-in-law about her insecurities if any. This will give you a good understanding of what lies ahead and will assist you in being psychologically prepared for it.

Past Is No Longer Past

A relationship might break down or we choose to end it for good at any time. It’s acceptable to have a history. Almost everyone has prior experience. Do not try to conceal your past from your future spouse. This is wrong in every respect imaginable. You can’t create a connection on lies. Don’t be embarrassed about your previous mistakes. Furthermore, be proud of yourself for giving love rather than hate towards someone else. If your partner cannot tolerate your past, he does not deserve to be part of your present or future life together as a couple.’

Don’t wear any masks.

Ladies, it is so important to be your authentic self with your partner before taking the plunge and getting married. If you try to put up a facade or pretend to be someone else, he will not be falling in love with the real you. And that’s not what you want! In arranged marriages, often times both sides present themselves as perfect which is unrealistic because no one is perfect. Don’t hesitate or feel like you need to hide your flaws from others; let them decide if they can deal with it or accept you for who are.

Keep your Jeans after Marriage?

You may believe it’s a minor problem, yet when you move to a new setting and meet new people, it can take away your calm. As a result, double-check that you’ll be able to wear what you want after wedlock. I’m not suggesting that micro minis should be permissible at temples; rather, I’m stating that we would not do so in any case. Isn’t it?

A daughter is always a daughter, no matter what age.

What I find odd is that our society dictates that a girl becomes a daughter-in-law first after marriage, but not vice versa for sons. Does this make sense? Are there any logical reasons for it? From my perspective, I believe a daughter is always a daughter and should never be treated as a stranger by her parents post-marriage. This is dysfunctional and sexist way of thinking, and it needs to change. We are the only ones who can make that transformation happen. Before getting too serious with someone, get to know their views on this topic. If they express discomfort at the thought of you spending time with your family or act like your family should be treated as second-class citizens, move on. You deserve someone who loves and respects you–and by extension, the people who matter most to you.
