Jharkhand Marriage Certificate
A marriage certificate is a legal document confirming a marriage relationship between a bride and groom. Every state government in India has the authority to issue marriage certificates and legally binding records. We go through the criteria for obtaining a Jharkhand wedding certificate in this post.
The Benefits of a Marriage Certificate
Following are some of the reasons why you should get a Jharkhand marriage certificate:
- A marriage certificate establishes that a marriage has taken place and may be used as an official document.
- The minimum age for marriage has been set at 18 to prevent early marriages.
- This certificate enables widows to claim their inheritance.
- It may also be used to verify bigamy or polygamy.
- This law serves as a deterrent to husbands abandoning their wives.
- This certificate allows women to flee their husbands and gain custody of their children.
- Furthermore, you must keep your passport up-to-date and apply for a visa to obtain immigration benefits.
Who Can Apply?
In Jharkhand, the bride and groom must fulfill the following criteria to obtain a marriage certificate:
- Couples in Jharkhand who wish to obtain a marriage certificate must be permanent residents of India.
- At the time of the marriage, there should be a living spouse.
- Both the groom and bride must be at least 18 years old.
Registering for marriage
The party must apply to the office of the relevant Registrar, regardless of where the wedding took place or where the spouses had resided for at least six months before the ceremony. The Registering Officer may register any one of the following places under their jurisdiction:
- The home of the groom.
- The bride’s home.
- Solemnization venue.
In India, marriage registration can be performed under either the Special Marriage Act or Hindu Marriage Act. The Special Marriage Act applies to all citizens of India regardless of their religion, while the Hindu Marriage Act only applies to Hindus. The Special Marriage Act provides for both solemnization of a marriage by an officiant and registration by ad get-go and after the fact by a marriage officer. However, the Hindu Matching ceremony does not provide an option for the civil registry of an already granted married couple and has no capacity for self-solemnization outside religious rites.
